Take a look at this press release from 9/25/2006 from the NCMEC.
The first paragraph reads;
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® (NCMEC) works to help prevent child abduction and sexual exploitation; help find missing children; and assist victims of child abduction and sexual exploitation, their families, and the professionals who serve them. Since 1984, it has assisted law enforcement personnel with more than 119,800 missing child cases resulting in the recovery of more than 102,200 children.
That is blatantly lying. There is no soft way to say it. The NCMEC lies about their results to get mnore funding from the government, individuals and corporations.
When a child is reported missing to the national crime information center, which is required, it is also automatically sent to the NCMEC. The NCMEC puts the child’s picture on their website. If the child is found, which 98% are, even if they are found by police in only an hour or so, then the NCMEC claims they had something to do with it.
They do not have a response team that goes and finds the child like Kidsearch Network does. The NCMEC gets 40 millions dollars per year and still has no search team that responds to missing child cases yet they claim they assisted finding all these children.
This is big business to the NCMEC. Big money to their CEO and the rest of their staff. The government funds them to make it look like the justice department is doing something about missing children and the NCMEC spends over a million dollars every year telling the public they are finding missing children when in fact they have nothing at all to do with the missing children recoveries.
This would be libel if it were not true. I say straight up that the NCMEC is defrauding the American Taxpayers to receive money for finding missing children while doing nothing to find missing children. I say they are lying. I dare the NCMEC to sue me for libel. They can’t because what I am saying is absolutely true and I can prove it.
Here is more of what they say;
NCMEC sends up to thousands of posters at one time depending on the situation and location of a search area, such as a ZIP code, area code or entire state. “At first, we did everything by postal mail,” said Patti Willingham, case management operations manager with NCMEC. “We put a stamp on each envelope to send each poster out.” Since this method could take days to reach recipients, NCMEC switched to faxing. “But if we tried to hand-fax each poster on a fax machine the image quality would not be good and we would have to stand by the machines, type in numbers, wait for transmittal and so on,” Willingham explained. NCMEC next worked with an outsourced fax provider to broadcast faxes. However, as one of numerous clients, NCMEC files often had to wait while other transmissions were completed, or—if notice of distribution came after business hours—posters had to wait until 8 a.m. the following day for distribution. In addition, NCMEC employees lacked convenient and timely control of recipient databases.
40 million dollars per year to send out some faxes? Give me a break. I have personally responded to more than 80 missing child cases. My crew and I found 22 of those missing children personally and assisted in recovering the others by BEING THERE TO HELP.
I could do this nationwide with less than the NCMEC spends on public relations trying to convince people they are doing a good job at finding missing children.
We have proven that actual involvement to recruit and manage volunteers and helping the police cover more territory in those crucial first minutes and hours is what works.
The law that created the NCMEC says they are supposed to fund organizations that find missing children, yet they refuse to even discuss giving up ANY of their 40 million dollars per year, even for a method that has proven results.
This does piss me off since I have personally found more missing children than the NCMEC. Write your congressman and call for congressional hearings on where the NCMEC is spending all this money.
